The Hotel al Sole, which has belonged to the
Gaiardoni family for one century, has undergone a
number of changes and restructurings during its hundred-year
history. Gaiardoni Vittorio purchased the building (then consisting
of only one floor) in 1904 and turned it into a town
tavern. His son, Gaiardoni Egidio, who inherited the property
after his father’s death, built some apartments
on top of the tavern; these apartments were then turned
into Rooms for Rent by Gaiardoni Pierangelo, son of
Egidio, in 1987. With time, Pierangelo has enlarged the building, erecting
what later became the Restaurant al Sole. In 1993, Marino, Pierangelo’s son, restored
the tavern and opened the bar XXI Secolo (21st century). After ten years of hard work and sacrifices Marino
and his sister Elisa have enlarged and completely
restructured the building in the Spring of
2004 and have opened the Hotel al
Sole.
